  • Salary      : $85,120 to $91,586, plus super and salary packaging is available

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated commitment to VACCA's vision and values, including extensive experience engaging with Aboriginal families and children. Successful applicant will have work experience in a relevant field that supports an understanding of child development and family functioning including theories of attachment, intergenerational and personal trauma as well as relevant risk assessment frameworks, service responses and interventions in working with vulnerable families. Tertiary qualification in Community Service, Social Work, Psychology, welfare or a related discipline is highly desirable. 

About You

  • Strong understanding and commitment to VACCA’s values and vision, with the ability to lead and advocate both internally and externally.
  • Deep awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures, with a commitment to ongoing cultural learning and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
  • Proven experience working with Aboriginal children and families, as well as in the broader child and family sector.
  • Solid knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting families using culturally safe, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Competent in conducting thorough assessments, identifying needs, and developing effective intervention plans.
  • Ability to set goals, create timely action plans, and respond effectively to crises.
  • Experienced in reviewing assessment reports, safety plans, and goal plans.
  • Proficient in preparing accurate and professional documentation, including case notes and various reports.
  • Strong, respectful, and culturally appropriate communication skills with individuals, families, and professionals.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
