About the role
Play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal children and young people in out-of-home care by strengthening their cultural connections and ensuring their voices and families are central to decision-making. This includes facilitating Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making meetings, creating and reviewing cultural plans, and supporting carers to connect children to their culture, community, and services while educating them about Aboriginal history and contemporary issues. This role is about fostering cultural pride, belonging, and meaningful connections.
About You
Work collaboratively with DFFH and care teams to assess and support the cultural needs of Aboriginal children in out-of-home care. This includes co-convening Family Decision Making meetings with Elders, developing Cultural Support Plans, advising professionals, educating carers, and maintaining accurate case management records and data. Ensure cultural heritage is respected and incorporated into decision-making while promoting ongoing professional development and teamwork.
