The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.

About the role

Primary role involves initiating and strengthening networks and relationships in Community and local organisations, advocating for culturally appropriate service responses, facilitating group work with families and compiling cultural resources. This position also builds capacity of Case Managers and service partners in the region to strengthen these connections alongside the families they are working with.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities 
  • Strong Cultural knowledge and deep understanding of Community needs and commitment to supporting a culturally safe work environment and apply Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and working
  • Exceptional writing abilities for creating professional case notes, assessments, and reports.

Requirements

  • Certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant field such as community services, social work, allied health, psychology, justice or education 
  • You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence, a current employment Working With Children Check card and a clear National Police Check
  • Ability to work out of normal business hours as required by the role.
