About the role

The Manager of Investigations leads a team of specialised investigators responsible for reviewing allegations of abuse and neglect in children, adhering to the Commissioner for Children and Young People’s Reportable Conduct Scheme, the Department of Families and Fairness Critical Incident Management System, and other relevant reporting responsibilities. This role involves planning and prioritizing investigations to meet VACCA's reporting KPIs. You will collaborate with stakeholders and leadership to identify practice themes, compliance issues, and emerging risks, ensuring VACCA meets its incident reporting obligations while safeguarding the well-being of Aboriginal children and young people in our care.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to VACCA’s values and effectively champion these internally and externally. They will have a deep understanding of Aboriginal societies and cultures, alongside experience engaging with Aboriginal families and children in the child and family sector. The candidate should be skilled in assessing child safety and risk concerns and knowledgeable about the DFFH, CCYP, and Social Services regulatory frameworks, including incident reporting requirements. They will have a solid understanding of natural justice principles, and investigative techniques, and proven experience in leading teams to achieve program goals. Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively, are essential. Additionally, excellent report writing, data collection, and administrative skills are required.

  • Requirements: 
  • Certificate IV in Government (Investigations), or other professional investigation training (i.e. Diploma of Government Investigations, police training, Child Protection) and/or equivalent investigation or child, youth and family or care service experience.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
