About the role

The role of the YTC Senior Case Worker will be responsible for providing a range of case work functions requiring a high level of knowledge and skills of working with complex Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who are involved with the justice system.

You will provide individualised, timely, effective, efficient, gender-specific, and client-centred casework and case management services to YTC clients whilst in Custody and as they transition out of Custody

About You

• Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose. 
• Demonstrated ability to maintain clear and respectful boundaries with young people who display challenging behaviours. 
• Ability to identify and de-escalate potentially volatile behaviours and /or situations.
• Demonstrated ability to support young people to identify and achieve SMART goals. 
• Preparedness to work offsite within Youth Justice facilities (Parkville and Cherry Creek Youth Justice centres) 
• High level organisational skills including time management and the ability to work as an effective team member. 
• Undertake a variety of tasks of a specialised and/or detailed nature as requested and in liaison with management. 
• Relevant qualifications in Social Work/Community Services and/or experience in a similar role
• Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
