About the role

The Senior Program Manager role includes achieving all funding targets, reporting and compliance requirements. This role will provide leadership, direction, and support to VACCA staff employed within these programs, and extends to ensuring all Gippsland Family Services staff are provided with appropriate supervision and training opportunities to enhance their capacity to provide quality culturally appropriate services, and works collegiately with those in similar roles across the organisation. 

Family Services Programs include Integrated Family Services (IFS) and Aboriginal Family Preservation, Reunification and Response (AFPRR), Tuning into Kids & Teens and Kids Connect as well as Education Programs including Strong Deadly Boorais, Side by Side. The position is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of these programs and manages staff, budget, external partnerships and liaison, compliance and administration.

About You

  • Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of social work, psychology or community services (or other relevant discipline) and extensive relevant experience or a combination of experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required 
  • A minimum 3 years working with families, children and young people
  • Knowledge of the child and family services and youth data and finance collection and reporting systems, and experience in reporting on a range of programmatic data requirements related to the various programs in scope of the role. 
  • Leadership skills and experience pertaining to the working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children in the child and family sector, with proven experience in motivating, building capacity, innovation and initiative whilst observing cultural sensitivity 
  • Demonstrated experience in program implementation, service planning and delivery including monitoring, evaluation and maintenance of standards. 
  • Strong organisational abilities and interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to negotiate and work effectively with a range of individuals and organisations so that organisational and program objectives are achieved. 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Aboriginal organisations, employees and key stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professional judgement in decision making and high-level risk assessments 
  • Able to work flexible hours and participate in an oncall roster
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
