About the role

The Family Violence Therapeutic Senior Youth Case Worker position will provide 1:1 trauma-informed assessment and case management support to adolescence (and their families) who are using violence in the family home.

The position will contribute to the delivery of quality, culturally safe approaches to individuals and whole of family as appropriate through applying VACCA’s Cultural Therapeutic Ways framework and the Family Violence Therapeutic program guide. Healing through Culture will underpin all aspects of the work.

About You

  • Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.
  • A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, family therapy or related discipline along with demonstrated experience.
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in therapeutic case management.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence on Aboriginal young people.
  • Demonstrated experience in Family Violence risk assessments with a knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Best Interest Case Practice Model and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) Framework and the ability to put a cultural lens over these frameworks.
  • Experience of working therapeutically and sensitively in a range of healing interventions for Aboriginal adolescents and their families who are impacted and/or have used family violence.
  • Strong ability to have clear, culturally appropriate, and respectful communication skills with individuals, families, and professionals 
  • Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
