About the role

The role of the Team Leader: South (Residential Services) is responsible for supporting their teams to provide the very best quality care possible for Aboriginal children and young people and advocating for decisions that are in the best interests of the child, ensuring a strong focus on connection to family and culture.

About You

  • Commitment to the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose.
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies, cultures, and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia.
  • A degree in Social Work, Welfare, or a related field, with the potential requirement for additional training for Residential Care qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and culturally appropriately with staff, government agencies, partners, and clients.
  • Leadership experience in the child and family sector, providing guidance, support, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of issues, policies, legislation, and practices related to child and family welfare and Residential Care.
  • High-level organisational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as required.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
