About the role
The role oversees the delivery of the Wilam Support Service Homelessness Program, Balit Baggarrook Women’s Diversion Program, and Koorie Men’s Diversion Program. These programs provide case-managed support tailored to the needs of Aboriginal individuals, addressing key issues through a culturally informed approach. The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including VACCA programs, Justice Practice Leads, government departments, courts, and both Aboriginal and mainstream support services. This position plays a pivotal role in integrating cultural understanding into justice and social support initiatives.
About You
This role oversees the daily operations of the Wilam Homelessness Support Service, Balit Baggarrook Women’s Diversion Program, and Koorie Men’s Diversion Program. It involves planning and implementing programs with the Program Manager, ensuring services align with departmental standards and practice frameworks. The position provides leadership and supervision to caseworkers, addresses staff development and wellbeing, and ensures high-quality service delivery to Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities. Responsibilities also include meeting funding and compliance targets, coordinating reporting activities, fostering strong inter-agency relationships, collaborating with child protection, and maintaining expertise in relevant policies and legislation.
It is desirable for the applicant to hold a tertiary qualification in social work, youth work, psychology or a related discipline and have at least three years’ experience in the child and family services system.
An understanding of the Child Protection system.
