The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.

About the role
Support students in Early Years Primary School (Years 1 to 4) who are low attenders, to support in closing the gap on the attendance and learning. The Program will prioritise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Side by Side is based on and leverages the success of VACCA’s Kids Stay at School Program and the Berry Street Education Mode
About You
Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.
Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
High level organisational skills including time management and the ability to work as an effective team member.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff, Government and agency partners and clients.
Requirements:
Cert 4 in Community Services or working towards it
Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
