  • Salary     $85,120 - $91,586 plus superannuation and salary packaging options

About the role

The Youth Group Facilitator is responsible for facilitating youth groups with Aboriginal children aged 8-12 years old. This will involve the delivery of content about peer and family relationships to ensure that Aboriginal children have a strong foundation to work from when entering their adolescent years. This position aims to contribute to primary prevention of family violence through culturally responsive and safe delivery of activities.

About You

  • Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Knowledge and respect for Aboriginal cultures and awareness of the issues affecting Aboriginal people today.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal families, especially children and young people.
  • Experience facilitating and leading group activities for Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Understanding the causes of family violence in Aboriginal families.
  • Ability to work respectfully and safely with Aboriginal children and families.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-organised with project management experience.
  • Able to work well in a team and collaborate with different services.
  • Requirements: 
    • Diploma qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work or related field
    • Ability to travel throughout the region across the state
    • Able to work flexibly beyond office hours to facilitate youth groups
    • Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
