About the role

This role is responsible for providing intensive or short-term support and community education to children and their families in the Latrobe Valley who are at risk of developing or have a mental illness.

About You

• Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
• Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people
• Ability to work with complex-needs families to engage with them to work collaboratively to achieve agreed upon goals
• Experience in the provision of age-appropriate activities for individual children or groups of children
• Demonstrated ability to work in a cohesive, responsible and dynamic team.
• Well-developed written, computer, verbal and communication skills.
• An ability to undertake case management tasks, such as assessment, referral, case planning, case review and exit planning.
• An understanding of the range of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal services in the areas of family violence, child welfare, health, mental health, education, housing and well-being.
• Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
