The Organisation
The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
About the role
The Caseworker role involves providing support to address underlying issues contributing to the young person's or their family's offending behaviour, such as family dysfunction, mental health issues, trans-generational trauma, attachment difficulties, intellectual disabilities, experiences of violence and abuse, poverty, disengagement with the education system, and lack of social and community connection.
The Caseworker facilitates access to relevant welfare, housing, family, and education services through supported referral, advocacy, negotiation, and coordination, aiming to offer comprehensive support. Additionally, Senior Caseworkers serve as advocates, collaborating with professionals such as lawyers and doctors to protect clients' rights and ensure they receive appropriate services.
