The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The position will be responsible for the operational leadership, direction and support to VACCA staff employed within a combination of Care Services and Youth programs across the Ovens-Murray-Goulbourn Region including staff, budget, liaison and partnerships with departments, compliance and administration.

About You

• Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally.
• Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
• Significant knowledge and relevant experience in the delivery of statutory out of home care services, aligned early years and youth programs, including therapeutic approaches required to bring about better outcomes for at risk and vulnerable Aboriginal children and families.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Aboriginal organisations and workers, and key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated knowledge and capability to ensure service delivery is culturally safe and enhances cultural connection for vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or community services.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the child, youth and families’ sector in a leadership capacity
• Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
