The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

As an Aboriginal Community Connector, you'll work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to strengthen connections to culture, Community, kin and Country. Through building local relationships, facilitating cultural activities and supporting families on their journey, you'll help create stronger cultural connections and positive outcomes grounded in self-determination and healing.

About You

You believe in the strength, resilience and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and Communities. You enjoy walking alongside families, helping them strengthen connections to culture, kin, Community and Country, while sharing your knowledge and insights with Case Managers to support culturally strong practice. With a respectful and collaborative approach, you'll help create opportunities for connection, belonging, healing and self-determination, ensuring culture remains at the heart of the work we do.

  • Desirable:
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant field such as community services, social work, allied health, psychology, justice or education
  • Experience working in Aboriginal organisations and with Aboriginal communities
  • Requirements:
  • Where a degree is commenced but not completed, salary will be fixed at Award Level 4 until successful completion
  • Ability to work flexible hours within the span of hours as stipulated in the SCHADS award
  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
