About the role

The role of the Koorie Connect and Emergency Relief Case Manager is to support community and families in accessing urgent food supports, utility relief and material aid. The Koorie Connect and Emergency Relief Case Manager role can conduct support over the phone, office-based appointments and they are also able to offer outreach appointments. The role involves completing intake assessments with families and individuals to assess their immediate needs, supporting with referrals to other internal services within VACCA and other external services where appropriate

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and
    purpose.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and values.
  • Ability to work respectfully and competently with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and community.
  • An understanding of trauma informed practices and how to deliver culturally safe services to families and community.
  • Demonstrated experience collaboration with Aboriginal organisations, government departments and community service organisations and ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated well developed interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication
    skills.

Desirable

  • Experience or formal qualifications in Community Services are beneficial. Candidates should be willing to pursue a Diploma or Certificate relevant training in Community Services.
  • Experience in working in partnership with a range of stakeholders and the ability to demonstrate how you are able to support client outcomes.

Requirements

  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
