The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

This position will work across South and Gippsland Client Services to enhance VACCA’s response to the Aboriginal community and strengthen the capacity to develop innovative, culturally responsive programs and systems, increasing regional alignment with the implementation of VACCA practice frameworks and processes, strategic objectives internally and with stakeholders, input to program development plans, review of current agreements, reporting, performance measures and evaluations.

The focus of this specialist position will be to integrate culture and healing practices into all aspects of service delivery, and to realise the aims of Cultural Therapeutic Ways .

About You

  • Leadership skills and experience pertaining to the working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children in the child and family sector, with proven experience in motivating, building capacity, innovation and initiative whilst observing cultural sensitivity
  • An understanding and awareness of Aboriginal communities across Southern and Gippsland regions and the issues facing Aboriginal children, youth and families today
  • Demonstrated experience in program implementation, service planning and delivery including monitoring, evaluation and maintenance of standards.
  • Strong organisational abilities and interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to negotiate and work effectively with a range of individuals and organisations so that organisational and program objectives are achieved. 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification and/or relevant experience in the Child, Youth and Family services
  • Experience working in an ACCO will be desirable
  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
