About the role

The role of the Cultural Healing and Reunions Practise Lead is an advanced practice role within the Link-Up program. The role requires specialist skills, knowledge and lived experiences in the areas of cultural knowledge, support, mentoring and healing.
 
In this role you will be responsible for organising and implementing reunions with other staff who you will coach and mentor as you deliver culturally respectful and safe reunions aimed at providing healing to our client and their families.
 
You will be expected to support our clients throughout their reunion journey and ensure that it is a healing experience for both the client and their family.

About You

  • Commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose
  • Understanding about the child and family sector.
     
  • High level understanding of the Stolen Generations, the impact of trauma and the need to respond therapeutically to our client’s trauma-based behaviours.
     
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, values and belief and how it is used to inform our work with our clients and community.
     
     
  • An ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders
     
  • A good understanding and awareness of Aboriginal communities and the issues facing Aboriginal children, families and communities
  • today.
     
     
  • Good writing and computer skills
     
     
     
  • A genuine willingness to work closely with our clients and their family to support them in an empathic and respectful way
     
     
  • Ability to travel throughout Victoria and interstate and undertake overnight stopovers
     
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
