About the role

The role of the Cultural Group Co-Facilitator at VACCA is to co-facilitate the delivery of culturally focused group sessions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 5 to 17 who have experienced family violence, and provide them with opportunities to strengthen their knowledge, understanding and connection to culture

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such
  • Strong cultural knowledge and a commitment to supporting a culturally safe work environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people
  • Experience in public speaking and confidence co-facilitating workshops with Community and young people 

Desirable:

  • A tertiary qualification in community services or a relevant field along with demonstrated experience
  • Experience in group co-facilitation
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal organisation or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families or Community

Requirements:

  • You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence and a current employment Working With Children Check card and a clear National Police Check 
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable
  • Ability to work out of normal business hours as required by the role Capacity to travel between VACCA offices to co-facilitate groups across Werribee and Melton
