About the role

The role of the Senior Reunions Officer is to support healing and reconnection for clients through our reunions program. You will be responsible for the high-level planning and development of client reunions. This will include accompanying and supporting clients and their family on their reunions within Victoria and interstate in accordance with Link-Up policies, procedures and standards.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.
  • Advanced awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff, Government and agency partners and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with clients and their family to support them in an empathic, trauma informed and culturally respectful way, in order to plan, prepare and complete Link Up reunions for them.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with Stolen Generations survivors.
  • A relevant qualification in family therapy, social work, family services, or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the social work, family services or similar.
  • Where a degree is commenced but not completed, salary will be fixed at Award Level 4 until successful completion

Requirements

  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. 
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
