The Organisation
The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
About the role
The Family Services Specialist Disability practitioner roles have been established to build disability and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) expertise across the community-based family services system. These roles support vulnerable children and parents with disability to access appropriate disability supports and participate effectively in the NDIS.
The roles address the challenges many vulnerable families face when navigating disability support systems, particularly the NDIS. Practitioners assist families with NDIS access and participation and support them to navigate broader disability systems, including disability advocacy, service providers, and relevant mainstream services.
In addition, the roles provide disability-related case consultations to the wider family services sector across the eastern metropolitan area. This secondary consultation function supports family services practitioners to maximise disability supports and improve outcomes for children with disability through the NDIS.
