About the role

The Family Violence Therapeutic Team Leader is responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to the family violence therapeutic staff, both therapists and case managers within the Family Violence program across our offices in Werribee and Melton. This role will also contribute to the quality development and implementation of the program which delivers trauma informed therapeutic healing and repair support to a broad range of clients and well as oversee the intake, assessment and program delivery for the family violence therapeutic program

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of family violence issues and the impacts on women, children and families in an Aboriginal context.
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery in a range of appropriate therapeutic healing interventions to Aboriginal women, men, children, and families experiencing family violence.
  • Demonstrated experience the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors, and working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and practice frameworks within relevant sector.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and lead a team in quality practice with comprehensive understanding of the MARAM risk assessment and understanding of the Information Sharing legislation.

Desirable

  • The minimum qualification for this role is a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification OR have a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience and related qualification relevant to child and family welfare as per the mandatory minimum qualifications for family violence practitioners.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal led organisations will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of relevant legislation and professional guidelines (including children and young people at risk, MARAM, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme, Child Information Sharing Scheme, relevant professional Code of Ethics and Practice Standards, and privacy requirements).

Requirements

  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
