About the role

The Senior Advisor – Cultural Support Planning supports strong cultural connections for Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care. Working alongside care teams, the role guides the development and review of high quality cultural support plans.
Partnering with VACCA leaders, Child Protection and community agencies, the Senior Advisor provides specialist cultural guidance, builds practitioner capability and supports meaningful engagement with culture, community and local services.

About You

You are an experienced practitioner who leads with VACCA values and brings strong cultural knowledge to your work. You support and mentor care teams, provide expert advice on complex and sensitive matters, and work respectfully with Aboriginal children, families and communities to strengthen cultural support planning. You collaborate confidently with internal and external partners, including Child Protection, contribute positively to shared decision making, and use research, professional networks and systems to deliver high‑quality, timely outcomes.

  • Desirable:
  • A recognised social work or related welfare/behavioral science qualification with a focus on child development, family dynamics and/or trauma, and relevant practice experience.
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge in child protection and out‑of‑home care.
  • Requirements:
  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
