The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The focus of this role will be to support the ongoing development of the Aboriginal Beginning Practice (ABP) training pilot, which will see 80 Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care (ACAC) staff from Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) across Victoria.

A key focus of this role will be to provide expert guidance in the creation, enhancement and delivery of the ABP training program and complete a mapping exercise for future accreditation of the Aboriginal Beginning Practice program .

About You

  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, along with awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities, and commitment to continually build
  • Skills and experience in project management and project planning.
  • Experience with end-to-end development of learning initiatives, with a focus on content, design, layout, flow, engagement, and interactions.
  • Experience designing face to face and virtual initiatives or in designing instructional packages, material, or resources.
  • Ability to break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand course content.
  • Ability to develop clear and concise knowledge check activities or evaluation surveys that reflect the needs of the training.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Clear, culturally appropriate, and respectful ways of communicating with others including staff. external parties and training participants.
  • Diploma of Community Services
  • Tertiary qualification in adult learning

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations sector, and/or the child and family welfare sector including experience working with Aboriginal children, families and communities
  • Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
