About the role

VACCA’s Koorie Families as First Educators program (Balert Gerrbik) empowers Aboriginal families to support their children’s early learning, development, and strong cultural identity through home visits and group sessions.
As a Case Worker, you will walk alongside up to 8 families, providing culturally safe, trauma-informed support that strengthens parent-child relationships, promotes school readiness, and affirms Aboriginal child-rearing practices. You’ll help families connect with Community, culture, and services such as maternal and child health, while nurturing each child’s sense of belonging and identity.

About You

The Balert Gerrbik Case Worker walks alongside Aboriginal families, nurturing children’s growth through cultural connection, storytelling, and shared learning. Rooted in Aboriginal ways of being, the role supports parenting, early development, and wellbeing through home visits, group sessions, and guidance from Elders. With a focus on cultural safety, the Case Worker strengthens identity, promotes self-care, and helps families access services while honouring the spirit of Community and the wisdom of our old people.

  • Requirements:
  • Early Years Education qualifications: Certificate III / Certificate IV Early Childhood Education desirable.
  • Diploma in Community Services desirable.
  • Case management experience.

Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
