The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The Team Leader oversees the day-to-day management of the Link-Up Victoria program. This position directs the team in managing intake, referral, and engagement processes, utilising strong computer and writing skills to maintain database accuracy and generate reports. By providing regular professional supervision, training, and support, the Team Leader supports staff to deliver a high-quality, culturally responsive service.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • A sound understanding and working knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the issues related to Stolen Generations.
  • The capacity to ensure the voice and rights of Stolen Generations and their families are upheld.
  • A demonstrated ability to mentor staff by providing them with relevant information, support, feedback about their work, and opportunities for professional development.
  • A demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team as well as providing leadership to a team and capacity to allocate tasks and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with staff and clients using trauma informed and cultural safe practice.

Desirable

  • Knowledge about Stolen Generations and the impacts of trauma, loss and grief.
  • Experience working with Stolen Generations
  • Experience working as a therapist or similar role

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification in family therapy, social work, family services, or similar is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence, a current employment Working With Children Check card and a clear National Police Check
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination – strongly recommended
