About the role
The Eastern VACCA Family Violence Therapeutic Program offers support services for Aboriginal community members dealing with trauma from family violence (FV). The Therapeutic Senior Case Manager role involves delivering specialised FV responses, conducting risk assessments, creating a culturally safe environment, and providing timely family support through practical outreach services, including home visits. The role focuses on complex case management, cultural integration, and promoting family reconnection while supporting referrals to other services.
About You
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
- Proven experience in conducting Child Wellbeing assessments and Family Violence risk assessments, including developing, implementing and reviewing plans.
- A strong understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence in Aboriginal families and demonstrated awareness of complex intersectionality that impact children and families.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Information Sharing Entities (ISE) and Risk Assessment Entities (RAE), involving the collection of information from agencies like the Courts, Police, Schools and Child Protection.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in effectively engaging and supporting families using strength based, culturally appropriate and trauma informed approaches.
- Demonstrated experience and skills to identify goals and create a plan to respond to these in a timely manner, including experience to respond to crisis situations effectively.
- Strong competency and ability to prepare accurate documents and reports e.g. case notes, incident reports, family reviews, assessment reports and evaluation.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal children and families and other stakeholders, demonstrating effective and culturally appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting junior staff members
- Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, family Therapy, valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
