About the role

The Koorie Wellbeing Ways Worker play a key role in supporting the delivery of programs and initiatives that respond to community needs and align with the organisation’s strategic goals. This position work across both Western regions to assist with the planning, coordination, and delivery of culturally appropriate community programs and events.

About You

• Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.
• Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
• A proven ability to advocate for Aboriginal families and their children, using Trauma Informed Practices.
• An understanding of the health and community sector including acute and primary health services; maternal and child health services; child protection, Early start kinder and other early childhood services; and cultural strengthening support services.

Requirements:

• Being able to work flexible hours, this might at times include evening and weekends as required, to support community events, consultations and program delivery.
• Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
